OK FOR ARADIA!! her first impression of rider is that he's p cool, he's a dragon trainer and also he seems to be the kind of person that's got his head on his shoulders, and he's also very considerate ///// asking tavros about troll diet and such, those are things she hadn't even thought about. if she remembered more about tavros, she'd compare the two of them, because they're both pretty fuck you to their respective societies re: violence, as well as both being animal whisperers, but she doesn't remember that. so! she just thinks, oh cool, he's pretty cool with animals and also dragons and he seems like an adventurous type!!! i like those types!! we should go on adventures together!!! and a lot of what aradia is doing with all of her interaction is taking it at face-value and also being pretty lax about it; she's cool with having a billion conversations that have nothing to do with anything serious and essentially bullshitting with someone every time she talks to them, because she's feeling out social interaction again, and she's taking everything in stride - and SERIOUS CONVERSATION ALL DAY ALL THE TIME isn't really something she's going to default tooooo, like. she's okay with having serious conversations all the time! she's okay with bullshitting all the time! she's pretty 0k with everything, because on one hand if it's serious she'll appreciate its seriousness and if it's bullshitting, she's lighthearted and likes to bullshit. and if she feels like there's a serious subject, or something that she has realizedddd that's pretty serious - like rider's secrets in the secrets trauma game, she's subtle about it. she won't actually try to bring it up or anything, but when she learns serious things about her teammates, she tries to reflect on it and translate it to what she should do. so - rider's already someone who she feels like she can rely on, he was her interrogation subject when she got there and he seems p good and used to everything that goes on in aather, he's been here for a while. and while she likes to lightheartedly talk to him and do things, when in serious situations she wants to gear herself to more obviously rely on rider and show her appreciation for him, that's what she thought of with the secrets game. also, he comforted her about being dead! which isn't something she needed, because she's prettty okay with it, and also tavros quested not to be dead so she knows it's not really a permanent thing, death is really just a status effect with no real consequence (well there is consequence, but she sure didn't care about the consequence when she was dead. she was actually pretty 0k with it.) but he comforted her and he was concerned for her and she appreciates that. '^'!!

thorfinn/rider "how do i love you, let me count the ways"

forrrr thorfinn, there's a lot more that rider represents than just himself - the kind of person he wants to be, the kind of person his father would approve of, the kind of person his father is, and also a life of meaning. a lot of thorfinn's memories are pretty ehhhh in emotion! ehhhhhh. killing a bunch of people ehhhhh. making fun of a princess ehhhhhhh ok that's kind of funny but ehhhhhh. he's living but he's not. . . . very alive. but rider is! rider's pretty animated! rider makes a bunch of faces and he doesn't want to take memories without other people around him because they're too intense and that's not exactly something thorfinn wants, actively? neither is he very appreciative of them being signegs and rider being broken every time, but they light feelings in him - like,

"wow, i've never felt that way with any of my memories, i don't feel really sad (except when my dad died) but i've never felt very happy either, beyond my childhood memories. am i that emotional about my memories? . . . . no. do taking my memories really do anything for me? . . . . . not most of the time. that's a thing that rider does. other people do that too. hhhhhuh. . . . ."

and "i don't know what to do when you feel bad but i want to help but i don't know what to do, i have no idea how to help and i don't think there is even a way to help but i want to help? i want to help. . . . . !!!"

so it'ssss a mix of concern, helplessness that attaches to that concern, but also a tiny bit of . . . .not jealousy, but sort of a hint of wistfulness added with more concern and confusion and a little self-reflection. wow you sure are people and in touch with your feelings and you have life-enriching memories. i sure. don't. huh. hmmm. i wonder what it would be like to have all that. . . . . well i don't really care to ride on emotional rollercoasters but maybe not, but it's something i can sometimes think of anyway.

uhm i rambled on about that BUT ANOTHER THING RIDER REPRESENTS is the future! a future of a life that actually has meaning instead of. . . being a waste. . . . like his life is. and rider is hope, rider is moral compass, rider is a lot of things that he probably shouldn't be for thorfinn but he is and i guess this is why you're never getting rid of him and if you ever do get rid of him he will be not-so-quietly devastated. he would never be able to have the same interaction with someone else as he does with rider again.

like, for example - just physical reaction, he's very used to rider by now, he's not used to having people touch him or touching other people but rider is the exception, he's ok with rider squishing him, but he could never let anyone else do that, the closest is kitsunebi with snuggling but rider just casually ok let's hold hands let's hug ok i'm going to leannnnn on youuuuuu. ok. and of course all of this is expected to some degree, because boyfriends \:U/ rider is irreplaceable to him and there's a lot i could say but i'd be essaying all night if i kept talking, so i just wanted to go over something that i realized i never went over. rider is a lot of things to thorfinn that makes him irreplaceable because rider is essentially the flavor of his life. without rider thorfinn's life would be as tasteful as idk military rationed bread.

which also makes thorfinn curious and questioning as to why it would be creepy or otherwise disturbing to put his name on his body. \:U/ if it was out of infatuation, perhaps, but it's more - rider is just His Life. there's really no way around it, thorfinn just kind of. . . . revolves emotionally around rider and that's pretty much it. so what's weird about inflicting a scar that represents the person who is love of his life!!! (no thorfinn that's not the point everything else is the point this is why you are socially inept)

hmmmmm i feel really scatterbrained right now and there is just SO MUCH?? to talk about so i'm going to cut it there and let you ask me about other things yes. o/ REVERSE ME TOO.
